CRITICAL UPDATES
PPP Loans: The Full Picture is Starting to Come Into Shape
New Interim Final Rule, Two New Applications Simplify the Loan Forgiveness Process; Deadline to Apply is June 30th!

Over the past few days, a number of important documents regarding loan forgiveness in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) have been released by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and U.S. Department of the Treasury. These documents include:

  • A proposed Interim Final Rule regarding the changes to the program passed in the PPP, including updates on the allowable uses of PPP loan proceeds, loan forgiveness, and more
  • A revised, "borrower-friendly" PPP loan forgiveness application and instructions
  • A new, "EZ" version of the loan forgiveness application and instructions

For more information, see the SBA press release announcing the new applications, including information on determining if a borrower is eligible to use the EZ forgiveness application form.

The MAC is reviewing these documents and will be updating our PPP Loan Forgiveness Frequently Asked Questions document in the next few days, as appropriate.

Deadline Looming
If you’re still deciding whether to apply for a PPP loan, know that the SBA’s deadline to accept applications remains June 30, 2020. If possible, submit your application as soon as possible to avoid getting shut out from receiving funding if something is wrong with your application. Do not wait until the last minute! For more information, see the June 16, 2020, edition of the MAC Matters.
