MAC Spring Convention News

Dear Doctors:

Many of you have called the MAC office asking about our plans for the MAC Spring 2020 Convention & Exhibition, scheduled for April 24-26, 2020, at the Grand Traverse Resort. Unfortunately, after careful consideration, monitoring of events, and weighing all our options, and in conjunction with the latest guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at the direction of President Trump, with heavy heart the MAC is cancelling our in-person convention.

Please do not call the Grand Traverse Resort to cancel your room. They have a very limited staff currently working and will be doing a mass cancellation of your rooms on Wednesday, April 1st. If you have made payments to the hotel, you will be refunded in full.

Fortunately, we do have a contingency plan in place. These plans include a virtual "convention" with webinars from amazing speakers like Dr. Heidi Haavik, Dr. Francis Murphy, Dr. Evan Gwilliam, and more. Our virtual convention will begin on convention weekend, April 25th. Our Program Committee is working overtime to ensure that our outstanding speakers and their incredibly informative content is seamlessly delivered to our virtual attendees.

We are also making arrangements to ensure that doctors can obtain the State of Michigan-required in-person hours – two hours in physical measures and two hours in the performance and ordering of tests. Please rest assured we are working hard to make sure that you receive all your required CEs in the easiest ways possible. Our Program Committee is working overtime to ensure that our outstanding speakers and their incredibly informative content is seamlessly delivered to our virtual attendees.

We will have more information for our virtual program as we get closer to the convention date.

If you have already signed up for Spring Convention, we have several options for you:

  • Option 1: Remain registered and take part in Spring 2020 as a virtual event (to include the 2 hours in physical measures and 2 hours in performance and ordering of tests)
  • Option 2: Apply your payment to our Fall Convention (September 25-27 at the Renaissance Center in Detroit) or our Express Convention (November 21-22 at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant)
  • Option 3: Request a full refund

For those who haven’t registered but wish to sign up for our Spring 2020 virtual program, you can still register on our website, www.chiromi.com.

Important Reminder: Chiropractors in Michigan can only take 15 hours of online continuing education during their two-year license renewal period. If you have already completed 15 hours virtually through webinars or other distance-learning programs, our virtual convention will not be able to be counted toward your continuing education during this period, as you need to attend 15 hours of in-person continuing education to satisfy this requirement. We are in contact with LARA and the Michigan Board of Chiropractic and will notify you immediately if any changes are made to your CE requirements for 2020.

We know that our conventions are not just a continuing education event – they are opportunities to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and enjoy the chiropractic camaraderie that makes Michigan such a vibrant place in which to practice. We are extremely disappointed that we will not be able to see you at the Grand Traverse Resort, but we look forward to interacting with you in innovative new ways in the weeks and month ahead.

Finally, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Just know that we are here to work with you through this unprecedented time. If you have any questions or concerns, contact MAC Program Director Lisa Love-Smith at (517) 367-2225 or lisa@chiromi.com.
