MAC Partners With "Protect the Line Initiative" to Provide PPE to Interested Chiropractic Offices
10 MAC-Donated 3D Printers Making Masks, Face Shields, and Mask Bands to Protect Michigan’s Chiropractic Community, Other Volunteers Across the State

The MAC has received numerous calls from our doctors requesting PPE equipment to use when treating patients. In response to this request, the MAC is very proud to be partnering with the "Protect the Line Initiative," an organization using 3D printing technology to create and distribute PPE to hospitals, health care providers, grocery store workers, delivery drivers, and other front-line workers in the fight against the spread of coronavirus and COVID-19.

We are making this opportunity available to those doctors who feel it would be beneficial to their practices. We are also trying to be proactive for when the State does open things back up, whether that is at the end of the current "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order or beyond. We do not know at this time what might be required for businesses to fully re-open when the time comes, and we want to be as proactive as possible in providing the opportunity to obtain PPE to our members, should that be a requirement for re-opening.

The MAC donated 10 3D printers to the effort, part of a grand total of 70 printers working around the clock to make critical PPE, including masks, face shields, and mask bands that protect the workers’ ears. The 10 printers we donated will be devoted first and foremost to MAC-sourced demand for PPE. Every chiropractor in the state is eligible to receive PPE for themselves and their staff at no charge. This MAC donation is part of a major effort to provide support to our fellow health care providers and those essential workers making a difference right here at home during this global pandemic.

Obtaining PPE for Your Office

If you are a chiropractor who is interested in obtaining PPE for yourself and your staff, or in donating PPE to other worthy front-line health care providers and/or other essential employees, send an email to info@protecttheline.org or contact Brandon Pender through FB Messenger. Be sure to mention that you are a chiropractor, give your address, and let them know exactly how many of each piece of equipment is needed. For example, some offices may only be interested in obtaining the mask and the mask bands. Some may want the entire piece, including the shield. Just let them know exactly what and how many pieces you need, and they will deliver them to you – free of charge, in the hopes that you will "Pay It Forward" (see below).

The MAC is Asking You to Pay It Forward – Get Involved!

  • A GoFundMe has been set up at: https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/covid-19-ppe. Donations support the Initiative’s efforts to provide PPE for essential workers. Your donation today helps "pay it forward" to the next person requesting PPE. All donations are welcome.
  • Volunteer your time to help with deliveries. The team is working 24/7 to keep up with the overwhelming demand, and delivering orders is a critical need at this time. If interested in helping out, use the email/Facebook Messenger information above to contact them.

About the Protect the Line Initiative

The MAC got involved in the Protect the Live Initiative through one of our members, Dr. Becky Rumph of Waterford. Dr. Rumph joined with other small and family-operated business owners to form the Protect the Line Initiative. Within 24 hours they had driven to Ohio, bought 10 3D printers with their own funds, and started giving away PPE at no cost. The Initiative uses designs from the National Institutes of Health and tweaks them constantly, the benefit of 3D printing, with feedback from users. After being profiled in two local news interviews, demand exploded, resulting in their army of 70 printers working overtime in order to protect the line!
